Title Testimonials | Gio Nam Mua Lan | Southern Wind Lion Dance | Orange County

Lion Dance dates back to more than two thousand years and is still being performed today. Some the various events in which a lion dance is performed include weddings, banquets, grand openings, festivals, parades and so much more, each with a unique and intricate story behind every performance. For instance, Gio Nam's wedding performances tells the story of the unification of two families while bringing good luck and longevity to all who witness the dance. For a grand opening, Gio Nam's performances focuses on the spreading of fortune and prosperity through the symbolic representation of blessing the business with Chang (greens/lettuce).

Whatever event you are planning to organize, we'll be sure to tailor to your lion dance needs!

During my search for a lion dance performance for my wedding, I emailed several dance troops to compare performances and what not. The main reason why I chose Gio Nam Lion Dance (Southern Wind Lion Dance) was because their coordinator was very meticulous and detail oriented. I wanted to know the overall significance of the particular dance and David went above and beyond, in terms of providing information. Our dance floor was also a bit small, but they were able to coordinate the dance very well, given the constraints. At first I wanted to see a demo of what would be happening on wedding day, but he assured me that a surprise would be best. I'm glad I left it as being a surprise, because my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance, as did all of my wedding guests. The troop got the crowd pumped and it was a very nice Vietnamese/Chinese touch to our very traditional, American-style wedding. I also wanted to support a student run group because I'm a UCI alum! If you are considering a lion dance at your wedding, then I would highly recommend it! The pictures turned out very vibrant and it's definitely something that you will remember for years to come. Gio Nam won't disappoint!

Hi Steve,

Sorry if things didn't go smoothly and about the tight performance space...

But everybody had a great time. I think you helped bring an energy that we haven't had before. Everyone said they loved your dance troupe's performance! We kept hearing high praise for booking your group! Hope you guys got plenty to eat and got back to Irvine safely.

Thanks again,

i can't thank you enough for all the coordinating you're having to do. i didn't mean to overburden you with my request for the women on your team to perform, but you're correct, they would have more impact but hey, whomever's available, is fine too!!!

everyone is so excited!!!

thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Dear Richie, Thank you so much for performing at ARK Fun Day. Every year your performance is always the children's favorite. I don't know if you noticed this, but after you mentioned how the lettuce brings good fortune, all the children started running towards the lettuce and picking it up. Even if that probably was unsanitary, it was so adorable.

I really appreciate how your group always performs for us every year, and I know for a fact the children appreciate it as well.

Thanks so much again.
